CalTrans has released its last set of recommendations for corridors in the State Highway Network that will benefit from the $100 million reserved in the 2020 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) Cycle for Complete Streets augmentations. The second list of recommendations is available here; it follows an earlier list of recommendations from December available here. These projects were nominated by CalTrans District Offices and were selected by staff at CalTrans headquarters in Sacramento. The Complete Streets improvements in the projects range from transit islands, bulb outs and curb ramps to crosswalks, bikeways (Class I, II, III, and IV) and bike boxes. Some of the projects create connectivity to critical mass transit infrastructure, universities, and other key community destinations. As we have discussed in past newsletters, we have been working closely with CalTrans on the development Complete Streets Action Plan, and we are encouraged at the progress made so far to ensure that planning for walk and bike infrastructure is institutionalized in every SHOPP project starting with the next cycle in 2022.
