Stephanie Weber serves as the regional network manager for the Safe Routes Partnership. She guides the work of the regional policy managers working in five regions - Atlanta, GA; Portland, OR; the Greater Washington, DC region; the San Francisco Bay area; and Southern California. As regional network manager, Stephanie provides technical assistance to the regional staff to ensure that they are leveraging resources and have current and necessary tools and best practices on policies and Safe Routes to School to maximize the regional-level investment in Safe Routes to School.
Prior to joining the Safe Routes Partnership’s staff, Stephanie served as the organizer for Virginia’s Safe Routes to School network from its inception in May 2007. She has been a strong supporter of Safe Routes to School in Virginia since Congress first established the national program, and has been instrumental in broadening the support for the program at the state level.
In addition to her direct role with Safe Routes to School, she worked with BikeWalk Virginia for nearly six years as a public relations coordinator and also as education director. She managed a number of different grant-funded programs and coordinated the state’s annual bicycle and pedestrian conference for several years.
Prior to entering the world of bicycle and pedestrian advocacy, the majority of Stephanie’s professional experience centered in advocating for scientific research and higher education, with a particular emphasis in coordinating efforts at the grassroots level. In Arizona, she was the director of the grassroots advocacy network for Arizona State University. She also was the public affairs manager for the American Society for Microbiology, one of the largest life sciences societies in America, and legislative assistant to a consulting company that worked directly for the national system of Land-Grant Universities.
Stephanie earned her bachelor’s degree in managerial economics from UC Davis, and has taken graduate courses in Public Policy at Arizona State University and the College of William & Mary. Stephanie is a certified instructor through the League of American Bicyclists. She currently resides in Williamsburg, Virginia.
