Central Valley News: Stockton Advocates Comment on the General Plan

Advocates and community members in the City of Stockton submitted comments on the most recent update to the General Plan. Fourteen organizations and several residents were signatories to the comment letter, which outlines several recommendations to improve conditions for health, bicycling, and walking in Stockton, land use, expanding access to healthy food and urban agriculture, and Safe Routes to School. The organizations that submitted the letter represent the Healthy Neighborhoods Collaborative. Prior comments and participation from collaborative members resulted in positive changes to the General Plan, such as the inclusion of issues related to community health. Coalition members will be addressing the General Plan at a meeting of the Stockton Planning Commission this week.
