CARB Voting on Community-Driven Strategies to Reduce Air Pollution

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will be convening a September board meeting to discuss Assembly Bill 617, the Community Air Protection Program. AB 617 will mandate new community-driven action strategies to reduce air pollution and improve public health for communities who experience disproportionate burden of poor air quality.

CalEPA Report Shows People of Color Suffer Highest Pollution Burdens

Early this summer, the California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment released a report analyzing the links between CalEnviroScreen 3.0 scores and race/ethnicity and age. CalEnviroScreen is a database tool to evaluate the burden of environmental pollution on communities.

SoCal News: Muscoy Residents and Press Turn out for Muscoy Sidewalks for Safety Event

Early this summer, The Safe Routes Partnership teamed up with Assemblymember Reyes’ Office and a group of resident leaders known as Soar IE to conduct a community engagement project building on the team’s walk audits. Muscoy is an unincorporated rural area in San Bernardino County that is comprised of 98% Latinx families. Approximately 98% of Vermont and Muscoy Elementary students need Free and Reduced School Lunch Programs.
