1. Webinar: Let's Make It Official! Safe Routes to School Plans and Policies

Adopting official Safe Routes to School plans and policies is important for long-term sustainability. But we know this is not always easy. Join us for a webinar to explore how to incorporate Safe Routes into existing plans and policies instead of adopting standalone ones. Learn about which policies to pursue and which decision-makers you need to involve in the process. Register here.

2. New Year, New Ways for Public Health Advocates to Improve Park Access and Health

2023 is the year to set a resolution that makes an impact. With guidance from the Community Prevention Services Task Force, we know that implementing programs like Safe Routes to Parks in combination with park, trail, and greenway infrastructure improvements can increase physical activity, improve health, make communities more activity-friendly, and benefit people of all ages and abilities. Read our latest blog for four resolutions you can adopt that can be easily applied to your current public health program.

3. Explore Our Walk, Ride, & Roll Series

Are you new to Safe Routes to School or looking for ways to increase safety around schools through your Safe Routes to School program? Check out our Walk, Ride, & Roll Series as we work to increase awareness and skills to create action in Safe Routes to School programs, through a three-part webinar series, publications, and resources. Learn more about the series and check out upcoming webinar dates here.

4. Stay Connected with the State Funding Strategies Workgroup

If you’re looking for state and/or local funding for walking and biking, we invite you to join the State Funding Strategies Workgroup. This virtual workgroup meets monthly to share best practices from our work and insight from guest speakers who dive into topics such as state-specific legislative updates, funding programs, equity considerations, and campaign strategies. Learn more about the workgroup and sign up here.

5. New Year, New Congress – What We’re Going to Work On, But We Need Your Help to Achieve!

As we start a new year with a new Congress, let’s take a look at our 2023 legislative priorities, and how we plan to achieve them, and review what happened on the Hill while we were out. You can help us achieve our legislative goals by sharing your stories, photos, and video clips of Safe Routes to School programs in action with members of Congress. Read more and learn how to submit your information in our federal policy blog.
