1. Getting Around Town: Exploring Partnerships with Safe Routes to Parks

2. Safer System for Student Travel: Enhancing Safe Routes to School Through Vision Zero

Vision Zero is an international movement to eliminate all traffic fatalities and serious injuries. Join us for this webinar to explore innovative approaches to integrate Vision Zero's Safe System principles into school environments and learn how collaboration with Vision Zero staff can drive safer journeys for students. 3. Seeking State Agency Staff to participate in the Safe Routes to Parks Accelerator Program

Applications are now open for the Safe Routes to Parks Accelerator Program. Three states will be selected to assemble an interagency team to make funding and practice changes to support safe, convenient, and equitable access to parks and other everyday destinations across their respective states. Safe Routes Partnership will provide consulting services customized to support each state team over a 12-month period. Read more about the program and apply here. Applications are open until October 9, 2023.


4. Checking in on State Implementation of the Transportation Alternatives Program

You don’t want to miss reading this month’s federal policy blog. We’ll cover which states have Transportation Alternatives Program funds at risk of lapsing and which are ahead in obligating funds. With the new provisions in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, see how states are providing technical assistance, taking advantage of transferring TAP funds, and how that could expedite project delivery.


5. Urgency Meets Opportunity: $3 Billion This Year Alone to Build and Repair Community Connections through Safe, Equitable Pedestrian, Bicycle, and Transit Improvements

Through the US Department of Transportation’s Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods (RCN) Program, communities now have the opportunity to reverse the harm caused by transportation infrastructure.  On August 3, 2023, the Transportation Equity Caucus hosted a webinar planned by the League of American Bicyclists, National Resources Defense Council, PolicyLink, and Safe Routes Partnership.  6. Farewell to Michelle Lieberman!

Join us in wishing all the best to Michelle Lieberman, Consulting and Program Support Director as she takes the next step in her career. After nine years at Safe Routes Partnership, Michelle will be leaving the organization at the end of August 2023 to take on a position at the University of California, Davis, where she will be focused on supporting California communities with their active transportation efforts. Michelle joined our organization in 2014 as our Technical Assistance Project Manager, rising to her current role in the years following. We thank her for her many contributions to our organization and the Safe Routes to School field, including providing transformational technical assistance to communities and programs and developing national resources in support of the bigger movement. We will miss her and wish her all the best in this next chapter of her career.
