Oregon SRTS Rulemaking - April Update
In April, the RAC confirmed the Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR), which will now go to the Secretary of State so that it can be ready for public comment on May 1, 2018. There will be a public hearing on May 15 in Salem. Additionally, the committee provided initial guidance for the first funding allocation, application timeline, and focus areas for the grant funding.

The National Partnership facilitates regional active transportation networks (ATNs) in several locations with regular meetings. These ATNs serve as an informational hub for community based organizations and public agencies to share information on best practices and upcoming funding competitions, and to engage in increasing active transportation investments and policy. Oregon SRTS Rulemaking - February Update
In February, the RAC finalized definitions and approved changes to the Oregon Administrative Rule for Safe Routes to School. The Rule will now go to the Oregon Transportation Commission on March 15.
Update to SKATS Transportation Improvement Program
Additional $5 million in federal funds allows SKATS to update their 2018-2023 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Projects include upgrades for people walking & biking. Join the conversation! Public comments are due February 27, 2018.

We all use our system of throughways, roads, bridges, sidewalks, bikeways, and transit and freight routes. So, we should all get a say in how we create a transportation system that is safe, healthy, reliable and affordable. Regional leaders want to know how you would prioritize the next 20 years of transportation investments.
Oregon SRTS rulemaking underway
In the spring of 2017, House Bill 2017 passed in the Oregon State Legislature, dedicating $10 million annually for Safe Routes to School infrastructure, increasing to $15 million annually in 2023.
Washington opens call for projects: bicycle, pedestrian, and SRTS
The 2018 WSDOT Active Transportation Division call for projects for the Safe Routes to School and Pedestrian/Bicyclist Programs is now open, with more than $37 million in funding available for the 2019-2021 biennium beginning July 2019. Applications are due in late April and early May.
Oregon Transportation Focuses on Safe Routes to School
The Oregon Legislature's state transportation funding plan invests in cleaner, healthier transportation options for Oregonians, including ongoing dedicated funding for Safe Routes to School.
