About the Oregon SRTS Non-Infrastructure Grants & Rapid Response Program

This month, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will solicit proposals for Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Non-Infrastructure funding. The Non-Infrastructure Program opens on April 15, with about $700,000/yr available for the 3-year grant cycle, and can help fund education, encouragement and enforcement programs. About $1.8M is available for the Rapid Response Program, for projects that simply cannot wait for the 2021 competition. The Project Identification Program provides a service to up to 20 school communities to identify infrastructure projects that address barriers to students walking and biking to school in a newly-created local plan. More details on all three programs are now available here.

ODOT staff have already begun a series of workshops to present a program overview and answer questions about this new opportunity. The presentation will cover SRTS Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure Programs specifics including, timeline, eligibility, proposal selection process, match requirements, and proposal development tips. The target audiences include city, county, tribes, transit agency staff and interested public school representatives. All workshops are open to the general public. There are two more opportunities to attend a workshop this spring:

  • April 18, Eugene - 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Cesar Chavez Elementary School Library, 1510 W 14th Ave.
  • April 26, Portland - 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
ODOT Office Room A/B, 123 NW Flanders St.

Additionally, ODOT has posted a recorded workshop to view online – click here to watch the webinar.
