The Safe Routes to School National Partnership is a network of more than 350 nonprofit organizations, government agencies, schools, and professionals working together to advance the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) movement in the United States. SRTS can provide a variety of important benefits to children and their communities, including increasing physical activity, reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and enhancing neighborhood safety.
SRTSNP 2008 Annual Meeting in Conjunction with Pro Walk/Pro Bike Conference The Safe Routes to School National Partnership is holding their free Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 10am-5pm in conjunction with the Pro Walk/Pro Bike Conference. Advanced registration is required. The National Partnership’s Annual Meeting will be broken into two segments. The morning session will include a summary of the Partnership’s achievements over the previous year and a choice of break-out sessions. After a break for lunch on your own in Seattle, the afternoon segment will include an overview of the next transportation bill that will succeed SAFETEA-LU, and a time-period for questions and answers.
SRTS Serves As a Catalyst for Building Partnerships and Leveraging Resources The Safe Routes to School National Partnership prepared a report with case studies on how SRTS programs are resulting in the implementation of infrastructure improvements that close gaps in the non-motorized transportation network.
