#MoveEquity Tweetchat: Making Streets Welcoming for People With Disabilities

Wednesday, July 20, 2016

HOST and CO-HOSTS:

@SafeRoutesNow @Surgeon_General @NDRNadvocates @completestreets @ESPAConsulting @BikeLeague @KjensmoWalker

Streets and transportation programs and projects are required by law to take into consideration the needs of people with disabilities -- but in reality, people with vision, hearing, and mobility disabilities are often shortchanged by planning and street design.  Transportation equity for people with disabilities means safe and accessible biking, walking, rolling, and public transit options, which can be crucial to support independence, employment, and access to basic needs.  We'll also be exploring how equity for people with disabilities intersects with race, class, and other aspects of identity.
