OR Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Program Grants Announced

Following a competitive call for projects, last week the Oregon Transportation Commission approved a list of 24 recommended Safe Routes to School (SRTS) infrastructure grants. These projects will invest more than $15 million across the state to create safer ways for students to get to and from schools via walking and rolling.

Special Oregon Opportunity: 2019 Safe Routes to Parks Activating Communities Grants

Special opportunity for organizations, agencies, and communities in Oregon: With funding from the Oregon Health Authority, one rural, suburban, or urban community in Oregon will be funded, in addition to the ten Safe Routes to Parks Activating Communities grantees.

Lane & Mid-Willamette Valley MPOs consider legislative priorities for 2019

The Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments (MWVCOG) and Lane Council of Governments (LCOG) are preparing possible policy agendas for the upcoming 2019 Legislative Session. The Policy Committee for the Salem-Keizer Active Transportation Study (SKATS), also the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the area, met today to discuss next steps for the Mid-Willamette Valley region.

Serving High School Student Travel Needs in OR & WA

Youth Pass – typically a free or heavily subsidized transit pass for high school students – is a smart extension of any city's successful Safe Routes to School work, which focuses traffic safety education on elementary students. For high school students, Youth Pass is the logical next step to helping reduce congestion and reliance on vehicles, provides independent travel options, and builds future transit riders.
