The Metro SRTS Application process opens January 1, 2019. Complete applications are due by March 31, 2019. Grants begin July 1, 2019 and end June 30, 2022.

The Getting There Together Coalition recently submitted a letter to the incoming Metro Council of the greater Portland region, urging that they prioritize equitable transportation in the region when they look at transportation financing measures.
OR Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Program Grants Announced
Following a competitive call for projects, last week the Oregon Transportation Commission approved a list of 24 recommended Safe Routes to School (SRTS) infrastructure grants. These projects will invest more than $15 million across the state to create safer ways for students to get to and from schools via walking and rolling.

As cities across the country take steps to address equity, traffic congestion, and reduce climate emissions, many are looking to bike and scooter share programs for possible solutions. New mobility programs seem to make headlines each week, with announcements of new transportation technologies hitting our streets. Last year, Portland held a fourth-month pilot program to test out e-scooter share programs in the City. And in recent weeks, the City of Salem has been gearing up for a new bike share and contemplating its own e-scooter deployment.

WA Safe Routes to School and Pedestrian/Bicyclist Program Grants List
Every two years, following a call for projects, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) submits a report to the legislature on the recommended Safe Routes to School (SRTS) and Pedestrian/Bicyclist Program (PBP) grants. The 2019-2021 report explains the selection process, reports on past grant awards, and provides a prioritized list of applicants for funding in the next cycle.
Oregon AV Task Force: Testing policy headed to Legislature, Deployment recommendations up next
The Oregon Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Task Force reconvened this week, kicking off phase two of its work. For the last 6 months, the Task Force has been focused on developing recommendations for an AV testing policy framework. These recommendations can be found in the 2018 Final Report, and we can expect this report to inform legislation in 2019. A draft bill was shared with AV Task Force members at this week’s meeting, but has not yet been shared with the public.
Clark County RTP to Open for Public Comment
The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for Clark County is being updated in 2018/19 to comply with federal requirements and to ensure continued consistency between federal, state, regional and local plans. The Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council Board of Directors are scheduled to release the Draft RTP for public comment and review following their December 4 Board meeting. We've been tracking the plan and will provide more analysis once the full plan is released.
