Federal Policy Manager
Matthew Colvin is the Federal Policy Manager for the Safe Routes to School National Partnership. In this position, he leads the National Partnership’s legislative strategy on Capitol Hill and with federal agencies, conducts grassroots lobbying, policy research and analysis to advance the Safe Routes to School national movement.
Prior to joining the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, Matthew was the Senior Legislative Assistant to Congressman Albio Sires (NJ-8), where he was responsible for all activities related to the Congressman’s appointment to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure as well as the ad-hoc Subcommittee: The Panel on 21st Century Freight Transportation. During his tenure with the Congressman Sires, he helped craft several transit, pedestrian and bicycle focused pieces of legislation including the bipartisan Community Parks Revitalization Act and the New Opportunities for Bicycle and Pedestrian Infrastructure Financing Act. Matthew has also held positions with the office of Senator Menendez, where he assisted with the transportation, energy, and environment legislative portfolio, and the United States Peace Corps, where he helped spearhead the development of Jamaica’s largest marine protected area.
