Bay Area Regional Policy Manager
Marty Martinez, MPP serves as the Bay Area Regional Policy Manager. He is strengthening our diverse networks in the Bay Area to support policies and funding for Safe Routes to School, Complete Streets and creating healthy communities.
Marty earned his Master of Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley. He has dedicated his life to making positive change in our communities. In high school, he volunteered for policy campaigns, worked as a news reporter and interned for the president of the New Jersey State Senate. He worked hard to become the first in his family to go to college and earn an advanced degree. Among his accomplishments are working to secure Safe Routes to School funding and Complete Streets policies from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, helping to secure AIDS prevention funding from the California legislature, working with the California Office of the Patient Advocate to create their first HMO Health Care Quality Report Card and advocating for legislation making California the first state to require private health insurers to provide interpreters. He is experienced with issues related to cultural competency, health care reform, public programs, joint use of public facilities, the built environment and creating healthy communities.
